Some need a gown now and do not have ten months to casually wait for production.

It would be extremely strange if I wrote an entire article about wedding dress shopping in Metro Detroit and then pretended I hadn't spent most of my life surrounded by wedding gowns.
But each of these boutiques offers a very different experience, and that is exactly why this list is useful.
The Wedding Shoppe in Berkley: Best for the Bride Who Wants LOTS of Options
You know the bride who needs to see every possible version before she can make a decision?
She needs lace.
Then no lace.
Then maybe lace again.
Ball gown. Fit-and-flare. Clean satin. Sparkle. No sparkle. Wait, bring the sparkle back.
If that is you, The Wedding Shoppe may be worth exploring.
The Wedding Shoppe in Berkley is built around selection. Their current website says they carry more than 1,200 wedding gowns, with samples ranging from sizes 2 through 38, along with private bridal suites and personal stylists.
That kind of inventory can be really helpful when you are still figuring out what you like.
Sometimes Pinterest tells you that you are a sleek-minimalist-crepe bride, and then you put on a full romantic ball gown, and suddenly your entire personality changes.
Bridal does that.
This shopping style may be right for you if you want a wide variety of designers and silhouettes, and you learn what you love by trying on many different options.

This can be a really good option if your wedding timeline is shorter, you do not want to wait months for a gown to be produced, or you love the idea of finding a designer dress that already exists and taking it home.
The tradeoff is that off-the-rack shopping is naturally different from ordering a gown specifically for you. The sample size, condition, available styles, and alteration possibilities become part of the decision.
Neither approach is better. They are just different.
One is, “Let’s create or order my gown.”
The other is, “There she is. She exists. Give her to me.”

The boutique has been operating in Birmingham for more than 15 years and currently carries a selection of American and European bridal designers, including gowns that are exclusive or semi-exclusive to the salon.
This type of boutique can be a good fit for the bride who enjoys designer discovery but wants a more curated selection rather than an enormous inventory.
Think less “show me every wedding dress in the state of Michigan” and more “show me a thoughtful edit of gowns that fit the aesthetic I am looking for.”
And honestly, knowing which type of shopper you are before you book appointments will save you so much energy.
Hana Abboud in Dearborn: Best for the Bride Who Wants the Designer in the Room
Okay. My turn.
Hana Abboud is different from a traditional multi-designer bridal boutique because our flagship store is dedicated to Hana Abboud's designs.
We do not carry racks of gowns from ten or twenty different bridal labels.
That is intentional.
